Owen, this year you turned 4... and I couldnt be more proud of my 4 yr. old boy. Your heart is growing faster than you are (if that is even possible, cause buddy you are a big boy!). You understand kindness, respect, love, disappointment, remorse, loyalty, and longing... your heart is sensitive to spiritual things and God is moving and shaping it. Owen you are so full of life, just like I prayed you would be... your energy and your passion inspire me, they excite people around you. Your imagination is amazing right now... you obsess over art and anything creative, you love making up songs and stories and play scenarios. 4 has been a long awaited burst in development. Things that were so scary for you at 3, you are conquering with ease and courage. You are sinking into your skin, and I love watching you feel more and more confident in who you were created to be. Balance bike, pirates, art, school, friends, stickers, veggie tales, stories, music, soccer, building things... always playing, always in character, always helping me find so much joy in our everyday.
O... my baby boy, my little man, you break me in. You are the first, the one who stretches me, who teaches me. With you everything is new, every turn a fun and sometimes scary discovery. We are blazing this trail together... figuring it out as we go. I do it wrong sometimes, especially with you because I am learning as I go. Forgive me for my impatience, I was never good at the in between, Im crazy when it comes to moving forward onto bigger and better things... Forgive me for how hard I can be on you sometimes, and know that it is mostly because I am hard on myself. Thank you for teaching me all over again about life, I see it new and fresh through your beautiful blue eyes. Thank you for the work you do every day in helping God to make me better, more loving, less selfish.
You truly are a gift I am thankful for everyday... Owen you melt me, and my heart hurts when I look at how fast you are growing, I love these years with you.
