AAhhh Summer.

After only three weeks of work, I was dying for summer. And time at home with Owen. Its officially here. We kicked off our summer weekend with a beach evening at Bolsa Chica with some friends from high school. It was a beautiful evening after a HOT day. Mark got a chance to surf, I got a chance to catch up with some of my girlfriends, and Owen put his feet in the water for the first time. It felt so right to start the summer this way. Check out the sunset.

Monkeying Around

San O

Mark's father's day request was a surf day at San Onofre with Owen and I in tow. We headed down last saturday morning and met up with the Timmons and the Maguires. So Mark and the guys surfed for a couple of hours while Owen and I chilled under an umbrella with the other moms and kiddies. It was Owen's first long day at the beach and he did great...he loved all of the new sights and sounds.. and even took a little nap! We had such a great day that I think we are going to make it a monthly ritual this summer...join us.

Dylan loves to sand surf. Not quite ready for the waves yet, so cute.

Leave of Absence

So its final... We have decided that I will not return to teaching next year. It was a scary decision, (as Im sure all of you stay at home mom's remember) and we dont know how we are going to pull it off, but next year I will be at home watching my Owen grow. When it all came down to it, there really was no decision to be made; we didn't have Owen so that our lives would stay exactly the same... and I want to see all of his moments and be the one who is primarily teaching him and shaping his world. Owen has turned my world upside down, and every decision of how to spend my time is now filtered through the question of what is best for him. This just seemed to be the best (and scariest) decision for our given situation. So, I am finishing up my last week of school (for those of you who didnt know, I went back for the month of June) and packing up my room for at least a year. Mark and I both feel like we are in the most insecure and out of control places in our lives, in terms of what the future holds and the directions that God will take our family. We are both stepping out in faith in a very uncomfortable way as security has always been the model and the goal. We are going to stop chasing the wind, and choose to live one decision at a time for the passions God has given us. Needless to say, we have been on our knees.

Mama's Day

My first mothers day!! Mark and Owen did such a good job celebrating with me. My favorite gift was just time with them; we walked to Zinc, (our favorite local Coffee/Breakfast place) and then went for a beach walk at Crystal Cove (one of my favorite places in the world). Mother's Day has always been a difficult day for me with so many conflicting feelings. God's redemption is amazing... I love it how he tangibly conquers our fears and brokenness with joy... he has made all things new. Having Owen has given me such a new glimpse into my mom. I feel like I am learning and experiencing her love as I love him and care for him. A mother's love for her children is so amazing, I had no idea.

Huy and Holli's Wedding

Huy and Holli's wedding was so beautiful! It was so amazing to watch one of Mark's best friends marry a girl who was tailor made for him, we LOVE Holli. We had such a great time hanging out with so many friends from different circles all in the same place... The reception was in a beautiful tent and they had a really good band. (I was one of the first on the floor) This was one of the first long nights away from Owen...Bella watched him and he did great. It was really good for Mark and I to get away for a few hours.
